even the shape of her face looks different, it's amazing what a bit of paint can do. She looks much less like sandra bullock :p

Apparently she wasn't a fan of the after pic either. I'm having to re-do the lips again on this one and the Volks Garnet. Commissions are tough sometimes...but really, that's why I send photos to approve (?!?!?) :-o

I think I would go insane having to cater to the whims of fussy people, I think you're brave, I mean I know as good as you are the chances are that the owner will usually love what you do, but like in this instance if I had spent so much time and trouble on the lips and they just said do it again, I'd nut off!
I love how her mouth looks in this pic, a pale delicate neutral pout, but doll collectors are so picky! That's why I think I will only ever just stick to making a doll, and when I'm happy with the quality and finish, selling it, no hassle, no re-do's but then I am a bit of a grumpy bastard :)

This is all too true. If the economy wasn't so sucky, I'd prefer to just paint the dolls and then sell them like I used to do. I prefer that over commission work because I have full control over the outcome. As for Eva, the client now wants her to have darker lips. We shall see how that turns out! Grumpy bastards, unite! ;)

I'm curious, how often do you roll your eyes or gasp in disbelief at what people want you to do to their dolls?

Hmm. Remember when mom used to tell you not to make a face because it might freeze like that?

I think at this point of time my eyes should be permanently frozen...upwards.

The tricky part is still trying to maintain a good reputation after painting a doll that you know in your heart looks bad because of customer requests. Part of the reason why I will note "Painted per customer's specifications" on future pics of commissions, :D
